InterContinental Houston lobby and bar

Title

InterContinental Houston lobby and bar

Description

Rendering of Inter-Continental Houston lobby and bar by Syd Mead.

From Neal Prince's Interior Design Concept for the hotel: "Space is to function as a continuation of the lobby, open enough so a guest can hear the 'action' and be drawn toward the area...Extruded brass and etched, beveled glass panels with special edge lighting will be utilized to provide intimate but flexible areas suitable for two guests but capable of being rearranged for larger groups. Bar counters and over-bar treatment will have period wood paneling with glass/mirror and brass accents complementing the lobby. Various portions of the floor will be raised creating a pattern of levels related to the concept. Ceiling treatment will be coffered bays of edge-lit etched glass panels covering 50% of the area. Finished cabinetry surrounding cash register will be designed as an integral part of the bar."
